Enforcement  Passport Denial Program

The Passport Denial Program was established to deny passports to individuals who owe child support, and to meet the requirements of the law. Its intent is to enforce collection of past-due child support.

A passport may be released, without payment of debt, in a case of mistaken identity, an emergency, or through a director's exception.

A passport may be released if the obligor pays the entire child support debt or enters into a repayment agreement.

Obligors with more than $2,500 in arrears are referred for passport denial.
