Follow these seven simple virtual meeting etiquette rules and tips to avoid major meeting faux pas and keep your meetings productive and professional.

Sometimes people outside of the meeting may not realize the meeting is taking place.

Be aware that the microphone picks up everything.

Do not let presentations be interrupted by “sleep” mode on your computer.

Be aware that the microphones are very sensitive.

Mute the microphone before moving it.

Be present at your videoconferencing meeting.

Note that the camera shows anything in front of it

Give everyone a chance for final questions before hanging up.

Dress for videoconferences as you would any other meeting.

Speak clearly at a regular conversational level.

A bad angle for the camera can be distracting and interrupt communication.
