The Enforcement Case Evaluation (ECE) is a worksheet designed to aid the Child Support Services (CSS) specialist and state’s attorney in analyzing cases for appropriate enforcement action. The ECE worksheet contains five sections and the legal case history cover page:
- Relevant parties (CP, NCP, BP, children) locate and income information;
- Determination of jurisdiction/venue;
- Obligations, amounts and payment history;
- Assets of NCP;
- Evaluation of all enforcement actions available to the CSS program, and which ones are appropriate based on evaluation by the CCS and state’s attorney; and
- Legal case history providing record of orders.
The ECE worksheet should be filled out upon case initiation and updated any time there is a new order, such as an enforcement action or modification. Once the worksheet is completed, it will provide the information needed to determine which enforcement processes are available for use, in progress and/or completed.
The ECE worksheet is also an excellent teaching tool for the new child support specialist. They will learn the many resources available to help gather and analyze information, recommend an enforcement action, implement the action, document and evaluate a case.
