Interest Reviews

Interest reviews are performed under the following scenarios:

  1. When a financial audit is conducted
  2. While reviewing Undistributed (UNDL) receipts
  3. When moving principal balances from one obligation to another
  4. When building a new obligation
  5. When updating a modification order that was effective in a prior month
  6. When a custodial person (CP) has waived private arrears (with a Balance Waiver Order or other court order)
Note: The Balance Waiver Order is in the process of being approved by the Pleadings Review Committee.
  7. When the CP is deceased
    • Determine share of issuable balances (including principal & interest) for that CP and remove (unless notified in writing by the administrator of the CP’s estate). OAC 340:25-5-140(e)
  8. When the Non-Custodial Parent (NCP) is deceased
    • After payments have ceased (or approximately 30 days), case closure proceedings will begin. Remove the balance and close the case unless notified of probate pending, wrongful death suit, etc.
  9. To correct interest incorrectly charged by OSIS for arrearages equal to or less than one month’s support – Policy OAC 340:25-5-140.1(d) prior to OSIS programming changes 01/2017.
  10. When a case is reviewed for closure (see CSQuest article “Case Closure and Interest”)
  11. When a case is re-opened
    • When state balances exceed Temporary Assistance for Needy Family Unreimbursed Assistance (TANF URA) because the CP has closed their part of the case, the private case was closed due to non-cooperation, or the CP is unable to be located, reduce balances (including principal & interest) up to the URA balance.
  12. When correcting interest issues that appear on more than one obligation
