UIFSA sets out timeframes for actions in intergovernmental cases. Below is a list of those timeframes.
- Within 75 calendar days
- Provide locate services if the request is for locate or if the form does not provide adequate locate info for the NCP
- Notify the initiating agency of any necessary information or documentation that is needed
- Process the case to the extent possible pending any necessary action of the initiating agency
- Within 10 working days of locating the NCP in a different state return the forms and documents to the initiating agency
- Within 10 working days of locating the NCP in a different county forward the forms and documents and notify the other state
- Provide timely notice to the initiating agency in advance of any hearings
- When written communication is received from a party send copies to the appropriate agency or person within 2 business days
- A child support order that was issued by one state is modified in another state send a certified copy of the modified order to the other state within 30 days
- The initiating state requests a status update respond within 5 days
- Provide requested information to the Initiating State within 30 days
- Pass new information to the Initiating State within 10 days
