Options for Medical Enforcement

Legal Authorities:

While the NMSN (MED5/MED5C) is the primary method for enforcing medical support there are other enforcement remedies available.   These include remedies such as contempt or license revocation.

For more information on contempt, click this link to check out the Contempt subcategory of the Enforcement functional area on CS Quest.

For more information on license revocation, click this link to check out the License Review subcategory of the Enforcement functional area on CS Quest.

However, prior to other enforcement remedies being filed a review should be conducted to determine if a modification (Mod) of the child support is more appropriate.  For example, the health care coverage may not be reasonable in cost or accessible to the child. In that situation, an order for cash medical (CM) support may be more appropriate than an order for health care coverage.
