Office Assignment with Guardianship Question

Question:

We need some assistance. Our office has a guardianship case that does not order child support or mention child support. The order is from Cleveland County but the guardian lives in Garvin County. What is the relevant office assignment policy and where does the case file go?

Answer:

Great question! Per OAC 340:25-5-124, when there is a guardianship order in effect, the case is assigned to the district office serving the county in which the guardianship action was filed. Here, the case file would go to the child support office in Cleveland County, as the guardianship action was filed there.
