Cancelled by Statute Summary

Cancelled by Statute (CBS) is when a paper warrant goes unpaid for more than 90 days. The warrant is cancelled and returns to the PNDL (pended) list for the case it was issued on.

To process the CBS items in PNDL, you should first determine the appropriate disposition.

After you have made any necessary case updates, you will add an “R” resolution indicator using PNDR and a note stating your request.

These are a few of the more common edit messages that you will encounter when working your CBS list:

  • Payee address has not been updated for pended item
    • This edit indicates that while the payee’s address may be in Current status, it has not been updated since the warrants were cancelled.
  • Payee address no current
    • This edit indicates that the payee’s address has been changed since the issuance and put into History status.
