Below are various screens to help you research TANF benefits.
Person Screens
PY screen – lists all cases associated with a person.
CMM screen – lists all parties on a IV-A case and what kind of benefits have been expended.
TANF Screens
| Screen | Accessed | Description | Pros | Cons |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| BN1 | BN1_C/H Number | IV-A screen that lists any TANF or SNAP benefit a payee received each month | This is a source screen.
BN1 posts current month benefits by the first of the month. The user can access BNP for a specific month to view people on a grant. |
BN1 only stores information going back five years. |
| BNO | BNO_C/H Number | IV-A screen that lists any TANF or SNAP a payee received each month. | This is a source screen.
The user can access BNO for a specific month to view people on a grant. |
BNO only stores information after the BN1 cuts off going back about four additional years. |
| BNS | BNS_SSN | IV-A screen that lists the same information found on BN1, but goes a step further and lists all assistance cases that a person has been on as well. | This is a source screen.
The BNS posts current month benefits by the first of the month. The user can easily see if a child was on assistance with other people (additional custodians). |
Just like BN1, BNS stores information for a limited amount of time (around five years).
The user cannot see everyone who was on a grant for a specific month. |
| URAD | URAD_C/H Number_Person ID
URAD from the CP line on CSML |
A combination of BN1, BNO and older assistance screens showing months the custodial person received TANF | Extremely user friendly and easy to read.
Provides TANF information dating back to 1994. It is reliable since it pulls from source screens BN1, BNO, etc. |
If TANF has been expended for the current month, URAD will not typically post it until around the second week of the month.
If a user tries to access URAD via CSML and the IV-A case is not tied, it could look like TANF has not been expended. If the worker does not know the path (URAD-C/H Number_person ID) then TANF research could be incomplete. URAD is tied to one custodial person only. The child may be on other assistance cases and further research will be necessary. |
