Retained Support During the Establishment Time Period

If the custodial person (CP) receives Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) and direct payments from the non-custodial parent (NCP) prior to an order for current support, the payments will be credited towards TANF balances on the judgment/establishment worksheet.

Follow the process below:

  1. Build arrears on the system
  2. Add direct payments to CFPA
  3. Create a retained support overpayment in OSIS (see “Building a Retained Support Obligation” Help and How To document)

The CC judgment will remain the same amount as in the order and add to the obligation because the payments were credited on the judgment/establishment worksheet.
