HOPE is All Around Us – CSS Resources

Hope is all around us in everything we do in Child Support. Sometimes we don’t recognize the simplest thing as being an instrument with the Science of HOPE. This article presents CS Quest articles that contain resources for us as caseworkers and our customers. These resources can be utilized as pathways toward your goals or to provide pathways for customers’ goals. Often times we are presented goals from customers that are outside of our ability to directly help, in those moments, we can be the pathway for the customer to a resource that can help and continue to nurture their HOPE.

The Science of HOPE teaches us that our role in a person’s HOPE journey can vary, and if we can recognize that we can be more effective in teaching and nurturing HOPE. This article helps in providing us and our customers alternate pathways or to achieve our respective goals.

The CS Quest article OKDHS Services and Programs for People of All Ages has resources listed covering OKDHS service divisions and a description of their focus. From Adult and Family Services through Developmental Disabilities Services, there are services customers can access should they need help with something going on in their lives. For example, did you know Adult and Family Services provides not only childcare subsidy, SNAP, and TANF, but also refugee assistance, low-income home energy assistance, and health-related and medical services?

The CS Quest article describes each of the service division and its focus. In your conversations with customers, co-workers, friends, and family if you perceive they need assistance, you will have knowledge about different services that are available.

You may hear someone discussing the issue of visitation, or a customer may talk with you directly about wanting to establish visitation with their children. This is not something Child Support can do. However, you can provide alternate pathways for visitation goals. You can learn about them in the CS Quest article, Statewide Access & Visitation Program. As noted in the article, all the services listed in the article are available to all CSS offices across Oklahoma. This is really good news for those of you who are frequently asked about visitation. The classes available to prepare for visitation as well as supervised visitation are included in the article. Please note that the contract monitor mentioned in the article is in the process of being decided. The article will be updated with this information as soon as it is available.

Child Support Services Customers’ Resources List is a comprehensive list of resources that can be pathways for customers. Among other resources, the list includes job search and work-related resources, domestic violence (DV) resources, mental health assistance, and hotlines for a number of situations.

As we do our work with customers, or have conversations with friends and family members, knowing about these resources can equip us with pathways to use and provide to others.

The Science of HOPE requires goal setting, pathways, and sustainable willpower. These resources can be invaluable pathways in contributing to CSS customers and families increase HOPE for a better well-being.
